regarding anthony weiner …

in no way do i agree with what he did. in no way do i think it’s acceptable behavior of any married man.

but here’s what i do think:

it is none of our business. none.

this is and should remain an issue between him and his wife. i understand that we’re a society that gets off to public humiliation and spectacle, but these are real people. this is a real marriage. let them work out their issues in private, as any of us would want for ourselves.

in the meantime, let the man do his job, because (at least in my opinion) he’s done a damn good job of doing it so far. if his constituents choose not to reelect him, then fine. that’s their prerogative.

but for those of us who don’t even live in the state of new york…for those in the media just looking for some talking points and a few outdone, unoriginal, consistently un-funny “weiner” jokes…move on. get over yourselves. he sent some saucy text messages. it’s gross…it’s not illegal.

the fact that he’s even considering (and likely proceeding with) resigning is sickening to me.

and yes, i think the same standard should be set for republicans caught up in scandals of a similar nature. my only thought on that, though, is that i can understand why their coworkers and constituents might reject them because of the hypocrisy latent in being an avid proponent of family values and traditional marriage whist being caught up in a torrid love affair with a hooker—male or female, as the case may be.

it had to be said. and now i’m done.
